Gung Fu has been the best thing in my life since I moved back to Napa and rejoined my Sifu's class in 2001.
I trained with my Sifu for two and a half years back in the eighties, and in my travels I had always hoped that I could learn more when I came back.
I began to plan my life around learning to teach some time around September of 2005, and started outdoor classes in the summer of 2006.
Since then, well, Sisyphus would have felt good about his life if he had enjoyed pushing rocks. He may have come to love it if sometimes some of the rocks began to roll uphill of their own accord.
In any event, my hope has been restored: Gung Fu is indeed a viral meme, which has evolved to improve everything.
Life is good.
More personal information, including a list of the forms I know
(or have been taught, at least) is at www.marksomerville.com

If you want to learn from my teacher: Sifu Michelle Dwyer:
look in the Napa College Community Education catalogue,
look for Tai Chi in the schedule, and of course for Michelle Dwyer.
For two semesters you'll learn Dragon Tiger Mountain Tai Chi, then on to
other things. Tai Chi translates as 'Supreme Ultimate',
(The Supreme Ultimate Form) and there is a reason for that.
Highly recommended?
Come to that class and we'll learn together.
If you already have some Fu and don't mind commuting to get some more
check out the Jing Mo Chinese Athletic Society.
Sifu's Sifu: Master Wong Jack Man has recently retired, and this class was his.
